A Windows desktop application built with Tauri and Svelte that loads, parses, and displays PGN chess games with interactive navigation, board playback, and engine analysis.
The Chess PGN Viewer is a modern, lightweight Windows desktop application designed for chess players, coaches, and analysts. It allows users to load PGN files, parse thousands of games instantly, and explore them through a clean and interactive interface.
The app provides:
- PGN Loader and Parser: Imports large PGN files and displays each game in a tabular format with metadata such as players, event, date, and result.
- Game Viewer Panel: Opens individual games with game list navigation, an interactive chessboard, full headers, and move list playback.
- Engine Analysis: Integrates both Stockfish and Pyrrhic for real-time evaluations, scores, and best-move suggestions.
- Smooth Desktop UX: Built using Tauri for native performance, low memory usage, and secure system integration.
Developed using Svelte, Tauri, and Rust backend bindings, the app is optimized for speed and geared toward becoming a professional-grade analysis tool for everyday chess users.
The project is actively being developed with upcoming features like opening explorer, engine tuning, cloud sync, and game annotation tools.
